Scholarships

Many WTS students have benefited and continue to benefit from the generosity of friends who have established and contributed to WTS Scholarship Endowments.

A scholarship endowment is a wonderful gift that continues to give many years beyond the initial endowment. The principle of the gift is held in trust and the interest earned is used to provide student scholarships each year. Scholarship endowments offer an excellent opportunity to impact the lives of students for years to come.

You may contribute to an already existing endowment fund or you may wish to establish a scholarship in honor of your church, pastor, or loved one.

Winebrenner offers several endowed scholarships:

WTS STUDENT FELLOWSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND
This fund was established in 1996 by the Winebrenner Student Fellowship Board to benefit students in financial need. The Student Fellowship serves as a forum for the expression of student concerns, as well as the catalyst for many student activities.

CALVIN E. BUHRMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship was established in 2008 by Dorothy M. Buhrman to honor the memory of her husband and his dedication to and work at the Germantown Church of God at Cascade, MD.

CGWM SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This scholarship was established in 1976 by the Churches of God Women Ministries.

DR. HARRY AND BETTY CADAMORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in 2004 by their children, Robert and Suellen, to assist students from the Allegheny Region Conference, as well as other students in need.

GEORGE AND BETTE MAE WEAVER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Dr. George Weaver served as the fifth president of Winebrenner Seminary at a very critical juncture in the school's history. God used Dr. Weaver, previously the Bishop of the United Brethren Church, to lead Winebrenner Seminary in a return to its evangelical roots. This scholarship was established in 2002 to honor George and his faithful wife, Bette Mae, for their many years of service to the WTS community.

LARRY G. WHITE SCHOLARSHIP FUND ENDOWMENT

Dr. Larry G. White served WTS faithfully for many years as a member of the Board of Trustees and also taught classes at WTS as an adjunct professor during the latter years of his ministry. Dr. White was a well-liked teacher and an excellent communicator who served the Churches of God, General Conference and pastored churches in Western Pennsylvania and Ohio.

MARY E. HERSHEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This scholarship was established in 2005 by Lancaster First Church of God, to honor her memory and her work as a missionary. The scholarship is especially for qualified individuals in the Eastern Region Conference who are entering the mission field.

MT. PLEASANT CHURCH OF GOD SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania established this scholarship in 1976.

REV. CHARLES AND RUTH HILLIARD SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This scholarship was established in 1987 by Reverend Charles and Ruth Hilliard of Clare, Michigan.

SMITH-INDIAN HEAD SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship was established in memory of Reverend Marion G. Smith by the members of the Indian Head Church of God, Indian Head, Pennsylvania. Reverend Smith faithfully served the Indian Head Church of God from 1948 until his retirement in 1984.

THE ARTHUR E. AND LUCILLE EAKIN SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in 1997 in the memory of Arthur E. and Lucille Eakin. The Eakin Family has a long history of pastoral leadership with the CGGC, particularly in Western Pennsylvania and Ohio.

THE CARLOS E. AND M. LOUISE HOPKINS SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This scholarship, in memory of Reverends Carlos E. and M. Louise Hopkins, was established in 1997 by their children. Both Carlos and Louise were ordained pastors within the Illinois Conference of the Churches of God, General Conference and both maintained a strong interest in education.

THE GOOD SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in 1979 by Mr. & Mrs. Lester F. Staats of Columbia, Pennsylvania. The Good Scholarship was established in the memory of J. Vernon Good, John and Emma Good, and the Reverend Simon and Annie Good.

THE RANDALL WAYNE PIERCE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship was established in 1992 by Mr. & Mrs. Donald & Lucille Pierce of Charleston, Illinois, in memory of their son Randall Wayne Pierce.

THE WILLIAM O. STILES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Dr. Stiles was the Senior Pastor of the Pine River Church of God in Vestaburg, Michigan. As one committed to the value of education, his family and the congregation believe the best way to honor his memory is to provide financial assistance to those pursuing the call to ministry. Established in 2006, this scholarship is available to any students from the Great Lakes Conference who demonstrate financial need.

VAUGHN E. AND OWEN V. HALL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was established in 1985 in the memory of Vaughn Hall by Mrs. Lois E. Hall of Celina, Ohio.
